So what have the Democrats done lately? Well they’ve funded the Iraq War for longer, and sometime in the next month or so will drop another cool $200 billion to keep the Awesome War going for another year. Because, you know, we have Progress, but we need to keep surging or we’ll lose the Progress. That’s what Golden Boy Patreaus told us in the Magical Month of September.
They also spent several hours condemning a newspaper ad taken out by MoveOn.org calling General Patreaus “General Betray-us”. I’m sure next they’ll condemn Rush Limbaugh for saying anti-war veterans are “phony soldiers”… wait, I forgot, IOKIYAR!
What else… oh, they were told that there were Very Serious and Dangerous Attacks being planned and they needed to temporarily amend FISA to allow unlimited warrantless wiretapping or else The Terrorists would Do Something Bad. Funny story, turns out there never was any terrorist threat, the Director of National Intelligence lied to Congress about that. Oh well, they still got what they wanted as the pants-pissing Democrats did what their betters in the GOP told them. There will be another push to permanently amend FISA in November when the temp authorization runs out, oh and could you retroactively protect the Administration and the telecom companies from prosecution? You don’t want The Terrorists to win do you?!
The Democrats also increased funding to abstinence-only programs despite the large body of evidence showing they lie to kids and don’t affect sexual behavior (except for contraception of course; abstinence-brainwashed teens and young adults are less likely to use protection).
Oh and last week we designated the Very Bad Iranian Revolutionary Guard a “terrorist organization” despite it being a government organization. Iran retaliated by designating the CIA and US Army as terrorist organizations. At least now the Republicans won’t call you mean names in ads!
Well, we did manage to raise the minimum wage and enact some mild ethic reforms. Go Team! Progress!
