Senate To End Iraq War
April 2nd, 2007 by SteveResponding to Bush’s petulant whining about Congress acting like it has authority to “declare war” or some such pro-terrorist nonsense and his threats to veto the supplemental spending bill because of the troop deadlines, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has announced he will cosponsor Feingold’s stand-alone bill withdrawing all troops within 120 days of enactment and cutting off future funding past that with limited exceptions. This is huge. Reid has been a very cautious Majority (and, last Congress, Minority) Leader and has rarely taken bold, drastic stands on something unless he knows he has the votes for it. This is certainly an interesting move and it makes me wonder which Republicans we have on board for this. Best of luck to Reid, the other Senate leaders, and their counterparts in the House on getting this passed. Don’t forget that they are YOUR representatives, so make sure you apply some pressure to them as this bill gets closer to a vote.
