Absentee Voting: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

September 28th, 2006 by Steve

For those of you who will NOT be in your voting area on Election Day due to college, work, or other circumstances, You MUST vote by absentee ballot. Here’s the necessary information via the state’s Voting Site. First, make sure you are registered. Second, find your County’s Contact Information. Third, download the Absentee Ballot Application (pdf) and mail it to the County Election Office. They will mail you the ballot to fill out, which you then mail back to them. This last part is very important: they MUST receive your completed ballot by Friday, November 3rd. No exceptions.

Thank you for your time.

Time to Hoard the Condoms

September 26th, 2006 by Steve

Surprise, surprise (Or not). Emboldened by gains in restricting abortion access, the anti-choice movement is now training their sites on contraception. You gotta love the doublethink that’s involved with the people who say this:

Contraception is more the root cause of abortion than anything else,” Joseph Scheidler, an anti-abortion veteran whose Pro-Life Action League sponsored the conference, said in an interview. [emphasis mine]

I… wha??? Contraception prevents abortion. If you’re using contraception, you’re not having unwanted pregnancies, and thus not needing an abortion. I guess every sperm really is sacred…

We’re Two For Two!

September 20th, 2006 by Steve

The lucky residents of Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District will recognize two of the names on CREW’s new list: Representative Curt Weldon (R - Naturally) and Senator Rick “Spreading” Santorum (R - NO WAI!). But wait, who the hell is CREW, and what is this list? First off, CREW stands for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, and they “target government officials who sacrifice the common good to special interests. We will help Americans use litigation to shine a light on those who betray the public trust.” That sounds great! Now what’s this list? Why, it’s the 2nd Annual Most Corrupt Members of Congress Report! Let’s look at the list:

CREW’s Most Corrupt Members of Congress:
Members of the Senate:
Conrad Burns (R-MT)
Bill Frist (R-TN)
Rick Santorum (R-PA)

Members of the House:
Alan Mollohan (D-WV)
Roy Blunt (R-MO)
Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO)
Ken Calvert (R-CA)
Richard Pombo (R-CA)
John Doolittle (R-CA)
Rick Renzi (R-AZ)
Tom Feeney (R-FL)
Pete Sessions (R-TX)
Katherine Harris (R-FL)
John Sweeney (R-NY)
William Jefferson (D-LA)
Charles Taylor (R-NC)
Jerry Lewis (R-CA)
Maxine Waters (D-CA)
Gary Miller (R-CA)
Curt Weldon (R-PA)

Man, that’s embarrassing! If only there was some way we could stop being represented by such corrupt officials… what’s that? There is? An election, you say? Ahh, of course! Former Vice Admiral Joe Sestak is challenging Corrupt Curt for the 7th, and current State Treasurer Bob Casey, Jr. is running against Little Ricky! Let’s hope they win… or better yet, help them to win!

Another Terrorist Anniversary

September 19th, 2006 by Steve

Yesterday was the anniversary of a terrorist attack on the United States. Didn’t know? That’s cause it got no media coverage, no sober remembrances, no photo-opping by the Chimp-in-Chief.

Do you remember?

My Senator

September 18th, 2006 by Steve

More Republican Family Values:

NEW YORK Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), in a bruising race for re-election, slammed a Pennsylvania newspaper — literally — this weekend.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Pa., report that Santorum, who trails Democrat Robert Casey in most polls, referred to his “rocky relations with the press” as he moved from room to room to attend regional caucuses earlier at a GOP state committee meeting in a hotel in East Pennsboro.

Later he refused to talk when a Patriot-News reporter, Brett Lieberman, approached with a question about Iran — and again complained about what he called biased coverage.

“I have to raise tens of millions of dollars because of the junk you feed the people of Pennsylvania,” he said, according to the paper. It added that he “then used an expletive to describe the coverage and slammed down a newspaper.”

Ricky Ricky Ricky… what will your children think? You know, the ones you used in your campaign commercial?

Tired of being represented by a whiny ignoramus? Vote for Casey.

I’m not really sure what to write here. Nothing I say will really add to the dialogue. Nonetheless, I’ll talk about what happened as I saw it 5 years ago…
