I love dailykos. Kos here has a post where he says that he doesn’t ever, ever want to be like the right blogosphere. What does he mean by that? As he explains, he basically always wants to call out Democrats who are corrupted by power, UNLIKE the deafening silence that has fallen over the right regarding Tom DeLay’s corruption. Power does corrupt, and kos acknowledges that Democrats will [not a question of if but when] become power-hungry, corrupted officials. The current crop of Republicans have become corrupted by power [why else would a “small government” party trample on state’s rights on almost every major issue? For a perfect example of this, see Schiavo case], but the supporters of the party haven’t uttered a peep, even though the corruption of congressional democrats was the major issue that brought the repubs to power in 1994. Irony is dead.

I got into the 4th college I applied to, Tufts. That makes me 4 for 4 so far: Notre Dame, William and Mary, Richmond, and Tufts. I’m still waiting for Johns Hopkins and Wesleyan. That rules. I’m excited.
Although it will make choosing difficult.

Ya know, I’ve avoided the wholeTerri Schiavo thing, cause it’s not my businesses at all. But this… oh man… this is priceless. The best quote: “How could you be so stupid?”

Hey, remember all that hullaballoo last summer caused by M. Moore’s claim that Saudi royals had been flown out of the country without proper inspections? Remember how the Right screamed that Moore was lying and therefore Bush was right? Well….. Guess who was right? Put this in a memo and title it “Shit I Already Know” please.
argh.

Well, sorta. Episode III looks dark and amazing. I hope it’s better than the last 2, which have sucked pretty badly. Let’s hope Lucas got his shit together for this one. He damn well better have.

I’m leaving tomorrow morning to go to Notre Dame for 3 days. I’m really looking forward to it! Then I’m seeing Heather on Sunday
Happy-Happy-Happy!!! I’ve missed her. TONS! But I get to see her now. So it’s good.

At a “townhall meeting” in Montgomery, Alabama, as part of Bush’s Social Security Bamboozle-palooza, one of the nice folks who was actually let into the meeting uttered these words:
On behalf of all Montgomery Alabamians, we would like to extend our heartfelt welcome. And thank you for allowing us to be part of this town hall meeting. [emphasis mine]
Now, I think Mr. Webster doesn’t quite understand what a town hall meeting is. So let me try to explain. A town hall meeting is open to all citizens of a community. This site has a pretty good definition that applies:
Town Hall meetings are an opportunity for citizens to voice their concerns and opinions on a given topic so as to raise awareness and press for action. A Town Hall meeting provides an organized opportunity for [citizens] in a given community or state to be heard by their local leaders and others in decision making
positions.
So you see, if these were real Town Hall meetings, you don’t need to thank Bush. He should be thanking you for letting him speak at your meeting. But Republicans can’t allow opposing views to be heard, so they make sure these meetings are simple, scripted events of Bush talking to people who support him anyway.
And can someone please bloody explain to me how Bush is “brave” for talking about removing the social safety net?!

If you don’t support gay rights and/or you think gays are some sort of weird biological mutation who deserve to be ridiculed, harrassed, and attacked, you are a fucking bigot who deserves to burn in the worse Christian hell imaginable.
If you voted for any Republican OR Democrat OR any-other-damn-person who has advocated placing and/or keeping bigotry in federal, state, local, or private laws and regulations, you are a bigot deserving the contempt of decent people everywhere.
That is all.
