February 10th, 2005 by Stevealright, so I’m browsing google news, U.S., and I see that Bush triples tsunami aid amounts, to 950 million. And I think “hey, that’s great news! way to go!” Then I see the story directly beneath it: Bush to give 100 million… to Poland. I’m thinking “Poland? Why Poland…. oh! maybe because the Polish people are still fairly poor and not very well off due to the collapse of the communist authoritarian governments 15 years ago”… then I see what we’e giving the money for. Military improvements.
What. The. Fuck. That’s bullshit! argh! Why are we giving so much damn money for military improvements, but when it comes to 200,000 people dying, we only offer more money after intense domestic and international pressure (remember, initial offer: 15 million, then bumped to 35, then 350). God, what an asshole.
