Laugh or Cry?

December 4th, 2004 by Steve

Who uttered the following?

“There’s just a lot of allegations of vote fraud that placed their election, the validity of their elections, in doubt… The international community is watching very carefully. People are paying very close attention to this, and hopefully it will be resolved in a way that brings credit and confidence to the .. government.”

Well?

No guesses?

Did you guess George W. Bush? If you did, you probably googled/yahooed it, or had already read the quote. This is in reference to the Ukranian election, which suffered irregularities nearly identical to the ones that occurred here. As a Newsweek article from this week, I believe, pointed out, it’s not results of this election that are important: it’s how much faith we can have in our election process when thousands and thousands of votes can be discarded, changed, or added to any candidate by anyone in a power position, or with a talent for hacking, leaving no trail behind. It’s troubling… And the thing I fear most is the Dems debasing their party further by pulling/allowing some of the stunts which happened to the GOP’s favor this cycle to happen in theirs in the future.
